Director General

The Director General carries out the functions of an administrative and managerial body. He is appointed by the Board of Superintendence, with the approval of the Commission of Cardinals, from among candidates, including those from outside the Institute, who meet the requirements of competence and integrity, and have no conflicts of interest or other impediments. He may be appointed for a fixed or indefinite period. In the case of a fixed-term appointment, the term of office shall be five years and shall be renewable once. In the performance of his duties, the Director General is assisted by Management Committees.
