Cookie Policy

  1. FOREWORD
This document has been drawn up by the Istituto per le Opere di Religione (hereinafter “IOR”), owner of the website www.ior.va (hereinafter “Portal”) that also manages its content. The Portal uses the technology called cookies mainly to ensure that its services are simple and efficient for users visiting the Portal.

This cookie policy (hereinafter “Cookie Policy”), that supplements the information provided in the Privacy Policy, and that we urge you to read, has the purpose of describing cookie types generally and those used on the Portal, the reasons and terms for their use and, lastly, how they are disabled.

  1. DEFINITION AND FUNCTION OF COOKIES
Cookies are small files that are sent from a web server to the user’s internet browser. The user’s internet browser automatically stores them in the computer and automatically sends them back to the server every time the website is accessed again.

There are different kinds of cookies, some make use of the Portal more effective, others enable specific functions. Cookies make it possible for a page to, among other things, file and recover information on a user’s or their device’s browsing habits and, depending on the information they contain and the way in which a device is used, they can be used to recognise the user.

  1. COOKIES CONFIGURATION
Cookies can be classified according to different parameters. They can be first-party or third-party cookies depending on the party that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent; and session cookies and persistent cookies depending on the amount of time they are stored in the user’s terminal.

Depending on the purpose for which collected data are processed, the following types of cookies may be defined:

  • Technical Cookies
  • Analysis or analytical cookies
  • Behavioural advertising and profiling cookies

Technical cookies

These cookies enable the user to navigate through the website or application and use the different options or services existing therein (video to facilitate purchases, social networks, etc.). These cookies, which are always sent by the web server, are necessary to correctly display the website and any products/services offered, unless the user changes the settings in their browser, thereby affecting the display of the website pages.

Analysis or analytical cookies

These cookies allow for the anonymous analysis of website user behaviour and make it possible to measure user activities and develop navigation profiles in order to improve websites.

Cookies in this category are usually used to collect information on use of the website. This information is generally used for anonymous statistical analysis in order to improve use of the website and make the content more interesting and relevant to the user’s wishes. This type of cookie collects anonymous data on user activity. Analytical cookies can be sent from the website itself or, as is often the case, from third party domains. When these cookies are sent from third party domains outside the website, they are used to collect information on the use of the website by users in an anonymous form such as: pages visited, time spent, traffic origins, geographical origin.

Behavioural advertising or profiling cookies

These cookies make it possible to manage advertising spaces on the website based on the user’s behaviour and browsing habits, from which a profile is obtained, thus making it possible to personalise the advertising displayed in the user’s browser. These are the cookies needed to create user profiles in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user within the website pages.

  1. COOKIES USED ON THE WEBSITE
A detailed analysis of the cookies present on our Portal essentially allows us to analyse the use of the services and content provided by the Portal in order to optimise the browsing experience and perform statistical analyses.

The cookies used on the Portal are technical and analytical and can be first-party or third-party.

Our first-party cookies are strictly technical and are used only to enable correct navigation of the Portal.

Third-party cookies may be both technical and analytical (linked instead to browsing and belonging to Google Analytics).

Cookies are activated every time a new user (hereinafter “User”) accesses the portal or in the event that the cookies have been deleted.

As regards Google Analytics cookies, Users may give their consent in one or more of the following ways:

  • by means of specific configurations of the browser used or the related computer programmes used to navigate the pages that make up the Portal
