Vatican City, February 4th, 2025 – The Istituto per le Opere di Religione (IOR) announces the appointment of Sheila Marie L. Uriarte-Tan, a lawyer and high-profile professional in the banking and asset management sector, as a new member of the Institute’s Board of Supervision.

With over thirty years of experience in strategic legal advisory supporting clients in various corporate and banking transactions, Sheila Marie L. Uriarte-Tan joins the Board bringing well-established skills in managing financial, banking and trust operations and in leading major Philippine trust groups.

During her career, she has held increasingly important roles within the Bank of the Philippine Islands, leading as President and CEO the BPI Asset Management & Trust Corporation, the Philippines’ largest independent trust company wholly owned by the Bank, and holding executive positions in BPI Capital Corporation.

Previously, she was Co-Managing Director of Ayala Group Legal, the legal department of the Ayala Corporation holding company and its subsidiaries, within which she gained diverse professional experience.

With a degree in Economics and Law from the University of the Philippines Diliman, Sheila Marie L. Uriarte-Tan is currently a member of the Finance Board of the Archbishop of Manila. She is also a Trustee and Member of the Executive Committee of the Pope Pius XII Catholic Center in Manila and of San Juan de Dios Educational Foundation in Manila.
