Cardinal Thomas Christopher Collins is the Archbishop of Toronto since December 2006. He was made Cardinal Priest of Saint Patrick in February 2012 and he ordained a priest in May 5, 1973. In 2008, he was elected president of the Ontario Conference of Catholic Bishops. Between 2001 and 2006, Cardinal Collins served as Archbishop of Edmonton. Having received episcopal ordination in May 1997, he was made Bishop of Saint Paul in Alberta in June. He served as rector of Saint Peter’s Seminary, Ontario, president of the National Theological Commission of the Bishops’ Conference, president of the National Commission for Ecumenism, president of the Conference of Bishops of Alberta and president of Saint Joseph’s College Board of Governors at the University of Alberta. Cardinal Thomas Collins is a member of the Congregation for Catholic Education and the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. He studied at the Pontifical Bible Institute and received a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was born on January 16, 1947 in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
